Hi everyone, my name is Riona ;DD
i'm a college student learning English literature in Tokyo.
This semester I enrolled in food culture class, so that's why I'm here!

I've always wanted to create my own blog because I like writing and sharing my ideas, thoughts and pictures to my friends- so I thought this is the perfect opportunity for me to explore the relationship between me and food and I'm very excited!

My blog is called "Just Twist Magic", as some of you might recognize, it's a reference of a series titled "Just Add Magic". It's a series of stories where three young girls encounter a magical cook book and try to reveal its secret while tackling SO many problems in their lives with magical dishes! And ahem, I'm very fond of the world they created in this series. 

So I've been planning to recreate some of the dishes from the series :)
Since I'm a veeery beginner in cooking, I'm rather hoping to share some of my fun and bizarre experiments in the kitchen instead of trying to come up with something professional and sophisticated. Since I'm from Japan, I could recreate dishes into Japanese style...You can see that's what I meant by "twist" haha! (The picture is a cat pancake I created 2 years ago? That's how rare it is for me to cook ;D )

Another thing about me and food- I've been into exploring the concepts around veganism- Although it's not like I'm planning to be one in the future, it's something I'm concerned so, I'd be happy to throw out my thoughts and discuss it with people here!

Prior to our own restaurant reviews, we did a practice by reviewing review!      For this semister I'd finish reading a famous food-related book, IN DIFFENSE OF FOOD: AN EATER'S MANIFESTO by Michael Pollan. In his book, he displays the simplest motto that anyone who wish to eat healthier can follow, in this ever confusing world regarding what is the right way to eat for our body. The motto is: EAT FOOD, NOT TOO MUCH, MOSTLY PLANTS      But what does that really mean?
